Abstract :
This paper is an outgrowth of the joint project between the Advanced Radiodata Research Center (ARRC) Motorola and Kalman Technologies Inc. Aiming at the development of a technology to bring the service of wireless facsimile receive to wireless subscribers. By wireless facsimile receive, we mean the transmission of facsimile documents originating from the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to a wireless client. We propose a lossy coding scheme to make this service economically feasible
