Abstract
Weather modification is an immature science of great potential. "Weather control" is not a foreseeable prospect. But even a very modest capacity to influence certain weather systems--which seems scientifically possible--could have enormous economic and social consequences. The subject is well disposed to benefit from the expertise represented by this IEEE group. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of weather modification to be filled in by several of the specialized papers to follow.
