Abstract :
Seafloor Observatory Network is evolved rapidly over the last two decades by means of new projects towards the establishment of permanent underwater networks. It can provide abundant power and wide bandwidth for science instruments through backbone cable and junction box. In this paper, we develop low voltage(LV) power system which is applied to provide power for internal circuit loads and external controlling system. The LV system addresses significant issues ranging from conventional DC-DC power to Uninterruptible Power Management System(UPMS), and focuses on using appropriate methods to deal with problems of circuit design. As the key factor, the current and voltage which UPMS outputs detection circuit is described to reveal the UPMS performance. A improved junction box was deployed in Jiaozhou Bay in Qingdao for a sea trial. A month sea trial proved that the UPMS power system based on our proposed methods is viable for the Seafloor Observatory Network.
