Abstract :
This paper deals with the signal processing in satellite navigation receivers using spread spectrum signals as broadcasted by the Global Positioning System (GPS) and the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS). The principle structure of a digital navigation receiver is discussed with special consideration of GPS and GLONASS specific signal characteristics. Furthermore the digital signal processing mechanizations generally applied for code and carrier phase aquisition and tracking are overviewed. Finally, the impact of multipath signal reception on the performance of the different interacting tracking loops is analysed by taking into account different types of delay lock loop discriminators as well as narrow correlating method
