Abstract
This paper presents a new set of realizability conditions for the design of Bode (1938) type variable-amplitude digital equalizers. The resulting realizability conditions take into account the stability of the variable-amplitude digital equalizer with regard to the possible range of values in the constituent variable multiplier. These realizability conditions are exploited and applied to the development of a pair of simple variable-amplitude digital equalizers associated with arbitrary prespecified shaping transfer functions. The frequency response of the resulting digital equalizers can be varied from that of the shaping transfer function to its inverse by varying the value of the variable multiplier
