Abstract :
Basic vector directional filter is able to perform color image filtering using directional information among color vectors, combining with order-statistic concepts. This method can protect image chromaticity while eliminating impulsive noise. Yet it doesn´t take account of a fact that spatial distance among pixels in a filtering window has the same influence on the filtering. This paper proposes an adaptive weighted vector directional filter based on predator-prey particle swarm optimization. This filter can achieve the adaptive color image filtering based on directional information. Simulation results and performance comparisons indicate that it is an effective color image filtering method because it achieves excellent trade off between smoothing and detail, edges preservation.
