Experimental study on friction and wear performance of non-smooth brake surface

Abstract :
The wear tests of brake friction pair with regularly distributed pits on brake disc surface were performed on the wear testing machine. The wear losses were measured by the L-200 photoelectric analytical balance. The experiment result shows that both the pits distance and the diameter have significant influences on the wear resistance, the non-smooth surface morphology also has influence on friction coefficient. The wear losses of the smooth surface and non-smooth surface are compared to analyze the friction and wear performance of non-smooth surface quantitatively. Analysis results show that friction and wear performance of non-smooth surface is better than that of smooth sample.
