Abstract :
With the help of the two-wave competition (TWC) in saturated ultra-long semiconductor optical amplifiers (UL-SOAs) the extinction ratio (ER) of high-speed optical signals can be regenerated. We investigate the UL-SOAs´ optimum operating range for the ER improvement. As a result, we present driving conditions for a stable regeneration scheme.
