Abstract :
Summary form only given. Changes in the telecommunications industry in recent years have produced a major impact on the utilization of the radio spectrum. First, the regulatory changes of the seventies opened telecommunications to a wide array of companies, and whole new industries began to put tremendous pressure on the available radio spectrum. Next, technological advances that were made in response to these pressures improved spectrum utilization. Both of these actions, while improving spectral efficiency, have made frequency coordination more difficult. Complexities that have been introduced have resulted in additional considerations and analyses necessary in frequency coordination to reap the full benefit of these developments
