Abstract :
With advances in digital telephony over the last decade, much of the simplicity that used to be associated with managing the voice, data and video requirements of an organisation have changed. As a result, office managers, corporate telephony managers and IT managers have been faced with an increasingly complex array of choices further confused by requirements for increased functionality from their internal customers. Many technologies have evolved and are now offered by various telecommunications providers in order to service these requirements. This paper explores the evolution of some of these technologies and illustrates the challenges associated with selection and integration of technologies to meet ever expanding end user needs
