Abstract :
The tactical networks provide a battle space where warfighters possess highly dynamic mobile communications to support operations. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), a prevailing application-layer signaling protocol, supports control plane functions of tactical networks. Though SIP supports mobility at certain levels, these supports are not sufficient in an intermittently connected tactical network. In this paper, we investigate the SIP mobility and propose a chain-based mobility registration to mitigate the "unreliable registration" problem.
