Abstract :
An example is given in which the algorithm given in Kalman1 to compute the joint controllability-observability decomposition fails. In ??7 of Kalman [1], there is described a procedure to compute the joint controllability-observability decomposition of a linear time invariant dynamic System x= Fx + Gu (1) y=Hx where 1 follow the notation in Kalman[1].
