Abstract
Linear estimation (prediction) is used in the automatic design of finite impulse response digital filters which approximate the Hilbert Transform. A figure of merit, expressed in terms of expected signal-to-noise performance is calculated as part of the design algorithm. Curves of performance versus filter length and bandwidth are presented.
