Abstract
In bistatic radar systems one problem in signal processing is the synchronization of the illuminator and the receiving site, specially when broad-band signals are used. In this paper a solution of this problem by optimal filtering and digital signal processing is investigated. A relay-correlator concept is developed that allows target detection virtually independent of the used illuminator signal wave-form. In addition the parameters of the illuminator signal under consideration - deterministic, p.r. noise, real noise, e.g. - are assumed to be unknown a´priori. Analytic and simulation results concerning the behaviour of the system under poor signal-to-noise ratio conditions are given.
