Abstract
Fiber diameter is one of the most important indicators for wool test and classification. This paper designed and actualized a wool fiber diameter measurement method based on image processing, in which the sample images were taken by the CCD camera of OFDA instrument. Median filter was used as algorithm to filter the noise. Then OTSU threshold segmentation was employed in order to segment and collect the segmentation parameters for image binaryzation. Based on Euclidean Distance and Weighted Algorithm, the fiber diameter was calculated. According to the actual measuring need and image features, the whole image was segmented into pieces and only some of them were selected so as to reduce the calculation work load and enhance the calculation speed. The result shows that precision of the measured wool fiber diameter by using this algorithm may reach ±0.3μm, which means it can accurately and speedily measure the fiber diameter, well meeting the need of measurement.
