Abstract
A finite element method with an efficient algorithm, named the recursive finite element method (RFEM), is proposed to analyze electromagnetic problem of finite periodic structures. Rectangular waveguides periodically loaded with metal ridges is tackled as an example of the present approach. Numerical results are shown to agree with those of the measurement. The influence of the geometries of the ridges and the period number on the scattering effects is analyzed and compared.
