Abstract
The paper explores the reasons why IS/IT strategy should be aligned with and integrated alongside organisational strategy. Information overload is a symptom of a lack of awareness of the need to manage information within the framework of the strategy. The paper identifies the effects information overload has on overall business performance. We then discuss ways in which IS/IT strategy and organisational strategy need to be aligned. We consider key aspects of strategic implementation which need in place in order to reduce the risk of information overload
