Abstract
Ceramics of Zr0.8Sn0.2TiO4 have been prepared by the mixed oxide route using additives of ZnO. The cooling rate was found to have a profound effect on structure and dielectric properties. The unit cell volume decreased in size and the grain size increased as the cooling rate was reduced. On rapid cooling the cations were randomly distributed within the lattice. With moderate cooling there was the initiation of ordering, but with slow cooling there was partial ordering of the cations along the a direction. The dielectric value increased with cooling rate to a maximum value of 10200 at 5 GHz
