Abstract :
This paper presents a proposed concept for a modular assembly system and self-configuring control system. Product changeovers in the system are quick due to its modular structure and automatically configuring process plates. Programming, control and simulation of the system are done using one piece of software. This Virtual Design Environment is a powerful tool for configuring new process plates and monitoring a running automated line.
