Abstract :
This paper considers the multi-user scheduling algorithms for mixed streaming and best-effort service scenario over wideband frequency-selective and time varying channel in cellular network such as E-UTRAN [1] and compares their performance. First, the frequency-selective proportional fair (PF) scheduling is proposed under user´s maximum transmission power capability and continuous resource constraints, which is used to reduce the peak to average power ratio (PAPR) for uplink. In addition, the proportional fair with guaranteed bit rate (PFGBR) is proposed to enhance the quality of service (QoS) of streaming services and improve the user experience in terms of bit rate and delay. The PFGBR is to optimize the concave utility function of ¿ilog Ri while provides guaranteed bit rate specifically for streaming applications. At last, various scheduling algorithms are studied and evaluated to support the mixture of the streaming and best-effort services simultaneously with streaming users receiving their desired QoS and best-effort users receiving the maximum possible throughput without compromising the QoS requirement of streaming users.
