Abstract
The change of electric field caused by geomagnetic storm generates Geomagnetically Induced Current (GIC), which take negative effect on the safe operation of power systems, thus it is extremely important to assess GIC. Trichtchenko and other scientist have established classical simple linear regression of GIC and Geomagentic Indices by analyzing character of Geomagentic Indices and GIC. Since classical simple linear regression demands strictly on random variable, it is hard for common models to meet the demand. So in this article, it introduces the model of quantile regression, which, compared with the classical one, could not only reflect the full information of GIC, but features of the distribution of GIC.
