Abstract
A imperfect periodically loaded waveguide model is proposed to study the propagation of electromagnetic waves in a railway tunnel. The surface impedance approximation is used to simplify the analysis. A closed-form formula for the TSM/sub q,m0/ modes is obtained. The numerical results are presented for the dominant TSM/sub 1,10/ mode.
