Abstract :
A gas hot isostatic press (HIP) with a dilatometer was used to study the densification of barium titanate in real time. Temperature, pressure, and linear shrinkage were monitored in real time by a computer. This allowed a study of sintering and gas isostatic hot pressing of barium titanate in only a few runs. Postsinter HIP and sinter HIP runs were performed at pressures of 20 MPa and temperatures of 1300-1350°C. Enhanced densification through gas isostatic hot pressure was demonstrated
