Abstract
This paper describes a well-designed and calibrated multi-agent simulation model to solve the design of shipspsila routeing which provide useful insights about complex maritime transportation routes that analytical models cannot capture accurately system. Real data from Ningbo-Zhoushan port are used as input for evaluating four traffic policies. The policies concern the sequencing of ships, precaution area allocation and other shipspsila routeing scenarios are performed. It is found that correctly assigned precaution area has fewer interaction times and shorter waiting time. This presents the potential to transform the way maritime traffic simulations are done, and creates new capabilities for maritime traffic applications.
