Abstract :
A [TiO(OH)2+Pb(OH)2] xerogel has been prepared from a sol-gel process by an inorganic route. The synthesis of this gel at 900°C/1 h provides a PbTiO3 ceramic precursor with a high crystalline anisotropy (c/a≃1.063). Sintering at 1100°C leads to ceramic materials with a bulk density of 90% and a microstructure of twinned single crystals with associate porosity. These PbTiO3 ceramics have a Curie point of 434.5°C and d33 values of 50 pC-N after poling with electric fields of 100 kV-cm-1
