Abstract
In this paper, a rotor flux oriented control scheme is compared with the stator flux oriented indirect torque control suggested by Baader (1989) as well as with a modified stator flux oriented control. The modifications are implemented to protect the stator flux oriented scheme from pull out of the induction motor. The main emphasis of the paper is on the torque capability at steady state and during transients in a very wide field weakening region. Experimental examinations of the behaviour at steady state and during transients are presented in this paper. As a result, it is shown that there is no significant advantage of one scheme or the other
