Abstract

The paper highlights the role and the strategic aims of R&D activities in the field of power systems. For each sector of activities, the main thematics and trends are then summarized, from generation to renewables, from transmission to end-use, dealing also with cross-cutting topics such as environmental compatibility and informatics. Finally the main opportunities for collaboration among electric companies and universities and other research institutes are presented
