Abstract :
Procedures to assess the significance of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy fragmentation extent estimation methods have been examined. The nature of the measurements was investigated using simplified computer image models and also real ultrasound images of constructed stone phantoms. The results show that measurements from computer models and phantoms closely relate to the stone fragmentation extent and that standard measurement algorithms and methods are needed.
