Abstract :
In this study, we propose surface plasmon resonance (SPR) structure consisting of planar dielectric gratings (PG) on flat metallic substrate. The SPR characteristics in the proposed structure are studied by rigorous coupled-wave analysis theory (RCWA). In order to offer instructive advice on succeeding fabrication, the influences of grating period and thickness of PG on the resonant mode are investigated in details. The results in air suggest the proposed structure present excellent SPR performance with narrow and deep resonant peak. Furthermore, the important structural parameters grating period and grating thickness are not strong dependent on each other when exciting the SPR owing to the tunable resonant angles.
