Abstract :
Mobile devices like PDAs or mobile phones have become widespread. Similarly network functionality like GSM, Bluetooth or WLAN has become a standard. Nevertheless, not many applications take mobility into account. An application and its communication component are tightly coupled and the applications assume that network behavior does not change. Here in this project we propose and implement a new component based lightweight architecture consisting of a small foot-print core layer and a modularized pluggable infrastructure for multi protocol communication for mobile devices. The architecture is built based on SCA (Service Component Architecture). The prototype of the architecture is implemented using fractal tools and tested on Nokia mobile devices and simulators on laptops. We could implement the architecture with 200Kbytes of memory for core layer and additional of 300Kbytes for protocols services for communication. We achieved communication time of around 4-5 ms among devices for switching the network interface for communication.
