  • Abstract
A new architecture based on the cellular neural network (CNN) paradigm is proposed. If the linear combinator and the piecewise-linear function of a CNN is replaced by a fuzzy-logic unit, a new cellular network is obtained with improved capabilities. This network is called a cellular neuro-fuzzy network (CNFN). CNFNs inherit all the excellent properties of the CNNs, with the advantage of a greater flexibility at the expense of a higher complexity. Nevertheless, the CNFN can be efficiently built by means of modern analog integrated circuit technology
