Abstract
This paper presents a two-rule-based fuzzy logic controller (FLC) the output of which achieves a nonlinear proportional, first and second derivation PDD control strategy. Two such FLC are used to control the 2D-position of a magnetic bearing without premagnetization, which is unstable by nature. The control performances of this scheme are then compared with those obtained through a nonlinear control technique using input-output linearization and sliding mode control. We conclude that both schemes lead to acceptable performances, and that the proposed FLC can be a useful tool for the practicing control engineer
