Abstract :
The Singular Value Decomposition of impulse responses of 2-D FIR filters allows to consider these filters as a sum of 2-D separable filters. This property is used to solve two important problems. First the design of variable cut-off 2-D filters is studied. Second, the implementation of 2-D filters with fixed-point arithmetic is investigated. Experimental results in the field of image processing are shown.
