Abstract :
Recently the Model Error Sensitivity Suppression (MESS) technique has been advanced as a way to design reduced order controller-estimators for high order systems [1]. A previous paper [2] has examined the parameter sensitivity of a specific model-MESS design when three or four actuator/ sensor pairs are available. Analysis of the return difference matrix was used to explain the superiority of the four actuator designs to the three actuator designs. This paper uses singular value analysis of the return difference matrix to demonstrate a similar conclusion.
