  • Abstract
    A novel method for increasing the gain of an aperture-coupled microstrip patch antenna is presented. The method makes use of a dielectric cover that is spaced some height off of the antenna. By proper choice of this height, we demonstrate an increase in simulated gain of more than 7dB. This comes at no cost to the matching bandwidth, but affects the gain bandwidth and radiation beamwidth.
