Abstract :
In this paper, the flow characteristics of an unconfined low-Reynolds-number circular jet with binary mixture is studied numerically. For four different exit velocities with the same exit oxygen concentration, the outlines of concentration fields are like mushrooms with different length and breadth ratio except for a small concave indicating the vortex is almost occurring near the neighborhood in the case of Re=157.6. Furthermore, for three different exit oxygen concentrations with the same exit velocity, the velocities and concentration fields are extremely different. Comparing the results of the circular jets with the slot jets having the same exit conditions, the oxygen have larger spreading range in transverse direction for slot jets. In the future, this study can be extended to the jet flame with gas of different compositions, and low-speed jet system for cooling in computer manufacturing.
