Abstract
Vague set theory has become well-established as a mechanism for uncertainty management in a wide variety of applications. In this paper, some existing entropy measures for vague sets are analyzed and some counter-intuitive examples for these methods are also presented. By taking into account the three parameters describing a vague set, a new method to calculate the entropy of vague sets is proposed. The proposed method overcomes the weaknesses of existing entropy methods. Furthermore, some new properties of this method are also given. The proposed method is shown to be more reasonable than the existing methods.
