Abstract
Terms and concepts related to the performance of multiple tasks by flightcrews are defined. A theory of cockpit task management (CTM) is presented. Several CTM errors committed by the flightcrew in a well-known air accident are discussed. Functions that advanced pilot-vehicle interfaces could perform that would facilitate CTM are recommended. An initial prototype embodying these suggestions is under development
