Abstract :
An agent based nonlinear model of water resources system is established at the basin level based on the theory of Complex Adaptive System. In this model, the subsystems of the water resources system, including hydrologic cycle components, agricultural and industrial water use, human living water use, ecosystem water use and water environment are combined by a dynamic connection with inner variables. In the model, every subsystem is described as an optimal model, and genetic arithmetic is used to solving the optimal sub models. Based on the structure of the model and the solving efficiency analysis, a nesting genetic arithmetic is presented to solve this nonlinear optimal model. The model is applied in the Yellow River basin to evaluate the impacts of the West Route of South-to-North Water Transfer Project of China.
