Abstract :
Long-Term Evolution (LTE) handsets operate in frequency bands that can be affected by impulsive noise (IN). LTE handsets have at least two receive antennas. We present the double-detection method, which is a variation of the classical threshold method to remove IN and consists in eliminating those signal samples whose amplitude simultaneously exceeds a specific threshold at both antennas. The performance of the method is better when the correlation between the signals at both antennas is low. This makes it possible that the handset dynamically sets the detection threshold according to the estimated channel conditions. The double-detection method is currently patent pending.
