Abstract :
Surface preparation is critical in the passivation of HgCdTe photovoltaic devices, as poor surface quality can create a fixed surface charge, and fixed, fast and slow interface traps. Two similar photovoltaic arrays with different surface preparation techniques are investigated; one has an additional step of anodic oxide growth and removal before the surface passivation is performed. A flood illumination technique was used in the surface preparation investigation
