  • Abstract
The self-mixing effect in laser diodes is reviewed as a general tool for remote sensing. After introducing the operating principle of the optical feedback interferometry, we are describing the main applications to displacement, vibration, velocity and distance measurements. New sensing schemes for 3D vision, medicine, laser physics, automotive or mass-market telecommunications are presented as well
