Abstract
This paper analyses the unpredictable and devastating effects of the earthquake that Lorca (Spain) suffered on the 11th of May. It was much more harmful than expected, according to the Spanish seismic-resistant structural code in force, NCSE 02. The conclusions were presented in the symposium on the matter that took place in Lorca, during days 2, 7, 15 and 22 June, 2011.
