Abstract :
A meshfree particle-based Lagrangian method-Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) has been applied to simulate instantaneous dam-break flows. The dam-breaks generated highly unsteady and rapidly varied flows moving over the beds and obstacles, so it was very complicated by fixed grid numerical simulations. The SPH method performed well when the flood wave moved over a flat bed, the strong hydraulic jumps can be reproduced, the numerical results agreed well with the Experimental data.
