  • Abstract
The effects of multipath fading systems have been extensively analysed in telecommunications literature, however, with less attention to polarization mismatch considerations. The purpose of this work is to present a novel way to treat this aspect, resulting in the development of expressions with direct application in the design of the radiobase receiving part of modern mobile radio systems. The technique to be described here can be considered as an application of the theory of SIMO (Single Input Multiple Output) systems of order two, since this model assumes two antennas with orthogonal polarizations for the signal reception. It is also considered in this work systems operating in fast fading conditions. The results of simulations contribute to justify the theory here presented.
