Abstract :
In order to deal with the emerging multi-zone congestion management problem, a novel Lagrangian relaxation based algorithm for area-decomposition optimal power flow is presented in this paper. By using this method, zonal operators can relieve network congestion coordinatedly and independently without knowing any other zones´ network information but the correspondent Lagrangian multipliers. Two different ways to multi-zone congestion management are also discussed. The IEEE RTS-96 is used as a test system to illustrate the proposed algorithm
