Research on the significance and strategy of seismic design to architectural design

A good seismic design of buildings is not only a part of the structural designs. It should also start from the architectural design and attach full attention to the importance of seismic design in architectural design. This paper analyzes the damage mechanism of earthquake to buildings and expounds several issues, to which attention should be paid in architecture design stage, from the perspectives of architectural graphic design, elevation and modeling design, vertical layout design, and setup of Seismic Joint, in order to improve buildings´ seismic performance.
