Abstract :
This paper details how the Public Utility District (PUD) of Chelan County (WA, USA) formed a process evaluation team (PET) to review processes related to the operation and maintenance of their hydropower facilities. While investigating solutions to problems identified in PET, the team learned of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). These systems enhance job planning and scheduling, maintenance processes, inventory control and data collection and recording. These software systems provide a large database and the analysis tools with which to make improvements based on recorded history. Costs can be reduced while equipment maintenance is enhanced by the use of a CMMS. This system also provides the user with one program that supports a multitude of functions other than maintenance
