Abstract :
While the treatment of the generators and electrical elements of a combined cycle plant in grid dynamics studies is conventional, their mechanical side requires modeling that is substantially different from that used for hydro and fired boiler steam plants. This paper reviews the characteristics of large gas turbines and heat recovery boilers that define the behavior of combined cycle plants. The models used to represent these characteristics in large scale grid dynamics studies are presented, together with recommendations on their use
