Abstract
Modern implantable neural/muscular stimulation system for neurological and physiological studies as well as for clinical treatment requires small, effective, safe and power efficient circuit system. CMOS technology is one of the best candidates to implement the circuit system to meet these requirements. In this paper, a 16-channel current mode stimulation circuit system with arbitrary waveform and active charge balancing circuit designed in CMOS 0.18μm 24V high voltage process is described. The design considerations are reviewed and discussed. The simulation results show that the proposed circuit system can successfully generate arbitrary waveforms and perform active charge balancing meeting the safety requirement.
